Smart Hal - The final Count down

A very warm welcome to the official Dolphin Smart Hal launch weblog! I am Dave Williams, Dolphin's Mobile Product Manager and in this blog I will offer an insight into the final stages of Smart Hal development right up to and beyond launch. I will take you behind the scenes as we put the finishing touches to the Smart Hal screen reader for mobile phones, learn about the extensive beta testing process, meet the Smart Hal team and maybe even share some of my battles with our software programmers!
As someone who is blind, I truly understand how assistive technology can help to empower visually impaired and blind people with the confidence, mobility and independence to work harder, play harder, or to even explore the world. While my personal objective has been to produce a product of which I can be proud, the most important goal is to create software which genuinely improves the experience of all blind people who have the right to expect more from often inaccessible mobile phones.
Dolphin is the first established developer of Windows desktop access software to create a screen reader for mobile phones. This provides Dolphin with the experience and expertise required to deliver a solution which is intuitive, but that also opens up the rapidly expanding market of innovative and exciting Windows Smartphones commercially available worldwide to those of us who have difficulty seeing the screen.
I hope that you will come with me on this exciting journey as we find out why Smart Hal is about more than just making your mobile phone talk! And while we are busily making phones talk, we hope that you will talk to us! Why not drop us an email with your questions, or call and ask us a question.
